Your educator

At Pohutukawa Kids, all our educators are passionate about children. Many of our educators are experienced and have homebased educator qualifications. When your child is in care of their homebased educator, they will be supported to feel safe, secure and comfortable in a fully supervised environment. Your child’s educator will be first aid trained and will always be alert to the health and wellbeing of your child and responsive to your child’s needs and interests.

Nurturing educators

Educators are carefully selected, police vetted, health and safety checked and must compete a Certificate in Early Childhood Education and Care (Level 4).  A qualified and experienced early childhood teacher visits the care location and has regular contact with your child and educators. Ongoing training and professional development is provided for educators to ensure children are being involved in meaningful experiences which support and enhance children’s learning and development.

Pohutukawa Kids Educators provide a range of learning experiences and play equipment in homes but also have the flexibility to utilise opportunities in the local community to further extend the children in their care.

Educator to child ratio

One educator and a maximum of four children (a maximum of two under two year olds at any one time) which allows Pohutukawa Kids children to enjoy individual attention as well as a quality programme. This includes fun and active learning experiences at home, and in the community.
